Gov. Schwarzenegger signs 2010-11 budget

Latest NumbersThe state’s budget includes approximately $3 billion for the University of California and restores $199 million that was cut from the 2009-10 budget when lawmakers slashed  20 percent of UC’s state general fund dollars. The new budget includes $51.3 million for 5,121 current UC students that the state had not previously funded. The budget also recommends $353 million for capital facility projects to provide more classrooms and meet critically needed seismic safety needs.

California budget stalemate at end?

In the MediaCalifornia lawmakers say they’ve reached agreement on a spending plan with a vote coming this week. Today (Oct. 4) marks the 96th day of the fiscal year and the longest the state has gone without a budget.  Legislative leaders say they’ll hold a hearing Wednesday, according to news reports.
