Gov. Brown drops in on legislative budget committee
Gov. Jerry Brown made an unprecedented visit to a legislative budget committee Thursday (Feb. 24.) to pump up support for his proposed 2011-12 spending plan. That’s the one with the $500 million cut for the University of California. He urged lawmakers to put his proposed tax extension on the ballot and let the people of California decide whehter they want the taxes or the programs they support. Without the tax extensions, Brown said he’ll sign a cuts-only budget, one that could result in four or five fewer weeks of school in California. Watch the governor in action.
